Flashback: June 4, 2007

Greetings from limbo! I’m currently en route to Continuum, but given the weirdness of time zones and the international date line, I have no idea where or when I’ll actually be when this post goes up. In fact, depending on the flight, it’s possible that I might never see June 4, 2014 at 9:30 a.m.!

In the meantime, have another post from the archives. Back in 2007, I had just begun doing LOLBooks, adding captions to various book covers and artwork…

So what do folks think? Should I see how long I can ride this fad before running out of ideas? Or is it time to let the LOLing die already?

Random LOL Book

I haven’t done a LOL book in ages.  Heck, a good chunk of my readers probably found me after I stopped doing ’em.  But what can I say — I saw this cover, and was struck by inspiration.  The book is Day of the Minotaur, by Thomas Burnett Swann.

Friday Wrapup, with LOL Book

• Seanan McGuire (of Rosemary and Rue fame) has drawn a nifty promo piece for The Mermaid’s Madness.  Click here to see her pretty little dead ghoul mermaid in all her glory.

• Tomorrow (9/26) from 11 am – 7 pm I’ll be at the Durand Fantasy Expo.  Details available on the Facebook page or on MySpace.  Lots of nifty guests lined up.

• I’ve heard from three separate sources now that Mermaid is on the shelves at some Borders stores.  Woo!  (I’d still call ahead though, just to make sure.)

• Finally, Elizabeth Bear unveiled the cover of her forthcoming book Bone and Jewel Creatures.  I like this cover an awful lot, and decided to express my appreciation in LOL form.  (For newcomers, the entire LOL Book series is available in my LJ archives, if you’re interested.)  Enjoy!

Going Offline & a LOL Book

Heading off shortly to take my wife in for knee surgery #6.  This one is fairly minor, but blogging & e-mail will probably still be scarce for a few days.

Since the last one seemed to go over well (and since I spent all of my brain on the short story rewrite this weekend and had nothing left over), how about another LOL Book?

Drive-by LOL Book

As some of you know, I used to post regular LOL Books.  Sadly, I eventually chose to stop doing them because it was taking too much time, and it was becoming work rather than fun.

However, as I was browsing Amazon yesterday, I came across a book just crying out for a LOL…
