Codex Born Typo Hunt
The mass market paperback edition of Codex Born [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy] comes out on August 5, 2014. I’m going through the page proofs now, which means I have the chance to fix any errors that might have slipped through in the hardcover release.
If you are one of those wonderful people who have already picked up a copy of the book (thank you!), and if you’ve stumbled across a typo or mistake, could you please let me know? As a way to say thank you, everyone who emails me about a typo they’ve found will be entered to win an autographed copy of Heroes in Training, the anthology I edited for DAW a while back.
DAW adjusted the cover a little bit for the paperback. And looking at the page proofs, if you add in the excerpt from Unbound in the back, the book comes to almost 400 pages.
And that reminds me, I need to email my editor about cover art ideas for Unbound. I’m thinking Isaac and Smudge riding a cyborg T. Rex over the Mackinac Bridge to battle an axe-wielding kaiju rising out of Lake Michigan. What do you think?

We need a “report typo” function in the Kindle ;-).

I know you’re pulling our collective chain on the T.Rex calvary battle versus the kaiju… But I want to read that now…

I played with the idea of adding velociraptors to book three, but it didn’t fit with where the story ended up. Maybe for book four, though ๐

So, a Dresden Files crossover?

I think Isaac should be in some impossiblly spine-bending pose ๐

I think since Issac is on the first book and Lena on the second its Nidhi’s turn. That or the book could havea real dark kinda spooky cover to reflex the deppresion that has been hinted at.

I think that would probably qualify for a slot over on Good Show Sir. Do it! ๐

I love the cover idea. If you can get half of that in, it will be full of win and awesome.
Does the hardcover contain the same text as the ebook, so those of us with electrons may proofread as well?

The ebook and hardcover *should* be the same, yes ๐

I just finished the Kindle edition of Codex Born and I did notice a few typos, but I didn’t note them down because I didn’t know about the Great Typo Hunt. Now I gotta go re-read the whole thing, gosh darn it!! ๐

Kindle Edition, pg. 282; “Scumble” is misspelled as “Scrumble”.

Thanks, Russ! I actually misspelled that one twice in the book, dang it ๐

But Isaac hates going across the Mackinac Bridge, even in a magical car. I love the visual of the idea, but without knowing anything about the book it would be hard to make any suggestions of what I would like to see. Whatever it ends up being I am sure it will be excellent.
