Everything You Wanted to Know About Snow Queen (and It’s All Lies)
Only three weeks left until the release of The Snow Queen’s Shadow [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy]. I figured today I’d take some time to answer any and all questions about the book.
That’s right, you can ask anything you’d like. Spoilers, background, histories … where did Queen Beatrice really come from? Who will Talia end up with? What’s Prince Armand’s favorite color?
I will do my best to answer all questions. The only catch is that I’m not promising to answer honestly … in fact, I can pretty much guarantee that I won’t.
Have fun! I certainly intend to 🙂

How does Smudge save the day?
Are there enough furs in this world to keep Talia warm on their journey?

1) He builds a Smudge-bot with built-in flamethrowers. And yes, it is exactly as awesome as it sounds.
2) No. Guess she’ll have to find another way to keep warm…

Oh, if I only had the art skills to pull of #1… 🙂

Will this book:
1. Cause me to squeal in joy for Talia?
2. Cause me to have a dream about Talia and Snow?
3. Make me giggle like a crazed… crazy person?

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes
I know you didn’t ask a fourth question, but you were thinking it, and the answer is yes!
(Legal disclaimer: These yeses are only valid for questions where the answer is not no.)

Damn, how did you know my fourth question would be whether I’ll be supremely jealous of Snow and her figure?!

I’m the author. It’s my job to know these things!

Does Armand finally get a bigger part and become a more complicated character?

Will I get in trouble if my straight-laced wife catches me reading this book and snoops around in it?

In chapter two, he dons a blue jumpsuit and goes out to fight crime as The Tick.

How straight-laced? Considering the overall fantasy genre, I think my stuff is moderately tame.
Oh, but you might want to skip the sequel, The Snow Queen’s Orgy.

Well, she was shocked at Desperate Housewives, but will watch Seinfeld, if that’s any help.
BTW, I took “The Mermaids Madness” with me on a all-male backpacking trip last summer (light reading, literally, which matters) and got a ton of grief about it from the other group members at first. But, it gets pretty boring on top of a mountain after dark, and 2 other guys read it before we all hiked back down. So if you want to improve book sales, I suggest vending machines in campgrounds accessible only by foot.

Did they find the flux capacitor? Did snow make it back to the year 1985?
Jim C. Hines

Finding the flux capacitor is the easy part. Generating the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity, that’s where the quest comes in…

Thanks! I will pass that suggestion along to the publisher 🙂

Surely the pent up sexual tension of Talia around Snow would suffice to power the flux capacitor?

And if not, well, Hephyra also shows up in this book…
