Book Q&A
13 days left until Terminal Alliance comes out!
I’m a little overwhelmed between prepping some promotional stuff and trying to wrap up the first draft of the sequel. So I figured I’d try something new.
Ask me any yes/no question about the new book or series. I’ll answer as honestly as I can without spoilers.
Have fun!

Are you going to find some way to write Smudge into this? Because every book needs a Smudge!

Blake – So far, this is a fire-spider-free series. But you never know…

Do the garbage compactors on the detention level have an emergency stop switch that can be reached from *inside* the aforementioned compactors?

Fred – Nope. (But when I first started thinking about the book, I was thinking I wanted to do something similar in tone to the goblin books. So in a way, it started out as goblins in space, but without goblins.)

Carpe Librarium – The Krakau Alliance doesn’t have garbage compactors on their ships. They recycle.

If I usually read Fantasy (Epic & Urban my two favorite sub-genres), and love your Princess Series, Magic Ex Libris, & Goblin books, am I likely to enjoy this even though it’s more Sci-Fi? (Or am I wrong in thinking this is sci-fi just because it’s in space?)

Avilyn – It is science fiction, not fantasy. My guess is that you’ll enjoy it, but I obviously can’t make any guarantees. It’s not hard SF, and it’s still very much my voice and writing style and humor and such.

I’m so excited for this 🙂
Questions!
Are there any queer characters?
Do you already have a sequel planned?
The first chapter was a space chapter – do they make it to earth at some point?
Is the little yellow worm thing on the cover a Krakau?
Did you get much/any input into the cover?
Did you find the transition from fantasy to sci-fi hard at all?

Michelle,
1. Yes…sort of? This is several hundred years in the future, with human culture having been “rebuilt” by aliens, so their concepts of sexuality don’t map that well to ours.
2. I’m almost finished the first draft of TERMINAL UPRISING.
3. Not in the first book 🙂
4. Nope. That’s a Glacidae. They’re the ship’s computer tech.
5. A bit, but all the credit for the cover awesomeness goes to Dan Dos Santos.
6. Yes. Yes. Also, yes.
