Already with long comments, I tend to write them in an editor with autosave and copy&paste them when I’m done. Too many wise words of me have been lost in hyperspace and browser crashes already ;-). My sympathies….

A real killer is Cmd-LeftArrow on the Mac. All I want is to go a word backwards and I am on a completely different web page….
I haven’t had that experience, yet–but I’ve only been blogging for a few weeks. Give it time.
I have had Martin’s experience. When my internet is playing up, or I’ve spent a long time composing a perfect comment, I’ve been known to select the contents of the edit window and hit Ctrl+C before I hit “Post”. The comment never fails to post as expected, whereas if I forget to copy it, it may well bound off into the aether, never to be seen again!
My sympathies, Jim!

I use the Lazarus plugin for Firefox (I gather there’s also one for Chrome); it’s made Tumblr posting tolerable, because tumblr’s UI is atrocious and it regularly eats posts. I don’t know if it’d work on WP posts, but it’s likely to.
I like Dreamwidth’s interface; it saves posts-in-progress automatically.

The flamethrower is the only solution. I don’t know where you’ll use it but the flamethrower is always the solution.
Uggh, even with autosaves, sudden crashes and back space page changes have lost me too many posts and comments. Every time I resolve to write inside another app to prevent this, I end up typing in a risky window because it’s faster, easier, and I don’t want to lose the gist of what I wanted to say. The best I hope for is to use a separate app for my own blog.
