Another Update
A brief personal update.
The GEMOX chemo my wife began at the beginning of June has been ineffective. After meeting with the oncologist this morning, we’ve decided to try another type of chemo called RICE, which we’re hopeful will get her well enough for the CAR T-cell procedure. She also received another dose of radiation this morning to help try to shrink the various tumors.
She’ll be transferred to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit this afternoon. If all goes well, she’ll be there for at least 1-2 months of treatment and recovery. Possibly more.
This obviously isn’t the news I was hoping to be able to share by this point in the process. But Amy’s not giving up. She’s fought through so much already. I knew she was strong, but I hadn’t realized just how strong…
Thank you all for the ongoing love and support. It helps.
Jim

Hearing those kinds of stories, as blessed as we are with modern medicine there is still so far to go in it. Still so much more luck and art than science. Good luck to you and your wife and god bless. Take care of the family, AND yourself. Thinking of you and hoping things work out somehow.

Sorry to hear that, I have been thinking of you and wondering.
This may be impertinent, but I have a very small bit of experience of being the partner of someone with cancer, and it’s the hardest thing I have ever done, far worse than being ill and having operations myself so here goes … don’t forget that you can’t look after your wife or the kids if you don’t look after yourself, if you don’t try at least to do the odd hour of something just for you, it isn’t selfish, it’s necessary. All the best to you all.

I’m so sorry to hear this,Jim It’s an awful and stressful time for you both, and an evil thing for poor Amy to have to endure. There’s very little I can do other than send good vibes and best wishes and hopes for a good outcome, but those you have, as many as you want, as many as you need, as many as I can send…

Best wishes. I can only dimly imagine how horrible it would be if my wife were going through this, and even dimly it’s pretty scary.
