First Book Friday: Author Roundup
I’m making this list for my own purposes, as well as for anyone who might have missed some of the older First Book Friday posts. My thanks to everyone who’s participated.
Submission guidelines for First Book Friday are posted here. I’m also open to recommendations if there’s someone you’d like me to invite … with the understanding that the REALLY big names are less likely to have time for an unpaid guest blog post, so you can suggest Terry Pratchett if you want, but it probably ain’t gonna happen.

Thank you for the organized list! I do love these posts, even if they make my to-be-read list a mile long. Maybe because of that…
I love me some Ursula Vernon (Dragonbreath series, Nurk, and Black Dogs); however, most of her books are for kids so I’m not sure she’d fit your usual FBF pattern. You can contact her at http://www.ursulavernon.com/contact or http://www.redwombatstudio.com/contact.
As I follow her blog, I know her first book story is a good one, although it is more than a little odd and I’m not sure if it would really help aspiring authors as a good bit of it was due to luck and friendship…

Thanks, Anita! I actually like the range and variety in these first book stories. There are some where it wouldn’t make much sense for an author to try to duplicate a particular path, but it’s good to know those paths are out there, if that makes sense?

I know I always look forward to the FBF posts. They’re a regular part of my ‘I should really be working right now’ Friday distraction.

These posts are the BEST, please don’t even think about ending them! I’ve always been fascinated by stories of how authors got their starts and it’s the one question I especially look out for in author interviews. Then I discovered your blog and JACKPOT. This is scheduled reading.

I recommend Dru Pagliassotti, whom has been kind enough to reply to my own emails from time to time. I try not to email her all too often, as I don’t want to distract her from any sequels-in-progress. I really love her Clockwork Heart novel.
